Galvanized Sheet

Galvanized steel sheet is flat steel coated with zinc to help protect the base metal from rust and corrosion. It is available in a range of thicknesses, widths, lengths, surface finishes, and coating weights, and may be supplied as flat sheets, slit material, coils, or profiled panels. The zinc coating provides a protective barrier and can offer sacrificial protection at small scratches, although deep damage, cut edges, aggressive chemicals, salt exposure, and prolonged moisture can still affect service life.

This versatile material is widely used in roofing and wall cladding, HVAC ductwork, electrical enclosures, cabinets, appliance panels, automotive components, agricultural buildings, flashing, rainwater goods, storage systems, and general fabrication. Depending on grade and coating, galvanized sheet can often be sheared, roll-formed, bent, punched, and painted with suitable preparation. Formability, weldability, paint adhesion, surface appearance, and corrosion resistance vary by product grade and manufacturing process, so the sheet should be selected for the intended fabrication method and environment.

When ordering galvanized sheet, confirm thickness, width, length, steel grade, zinc coating mass, surface condition, tolerances, spangle or finish requirements, and relevant standards. For roofing and cladding, consider profile compatibility, fixing details, condensation control, drainage, and the local environmental exposure. For painted or visible applications, verify the surface quality and coating compatibility before processing. Avoid direct contact with incompatible materials and prevent water from becoming trapped between stacked sheets during storage.
